How we encrypt your check-in

For the people who care about the technical details, here is what we're doing to keep your information safe.

Our commitments

Your prayer requests stay private. When you share a prayer request — especially one you mark confidential — it's scrambled with bank-grade encryption (AES-256) the moment it reaches our system, before it's ever saved. Only designated pastoral staff hold the key to read it; it's never stored in plain text, never indexed, and never visible to anyone browsing the database.

Your children's safety information is encrypted. Allergy notes, medical details, and pickup phone numbers you share at kids check-in are encrypted the same way. A database backup or storage compromise can't expose that information, because the readable version never touches the disk — only the scrambled ciphertext does.

We log who looks. Every time a staff member accesses encrypted information, the access is recorded, so there's an audit trail — not just a lock on the door, but a record of who walked through it.

Encryption is on top of, not instead of, the basics. Everything you submit travels over encrypted HTTPS connections, and our database is encrypted on disk as well. The field-level encryption described above adds a third layer specifically for the most sensitive information you trust us with — prayer needs and children's health details — so that even in a worst-case data breach, those fields remain unreadable.
