<image:caption>Mestizo and proud, Joel’s Filipina immigrant mother and Jewish-German American father raised him with a lively sense of God’s loving presence that led him to seek Jesus in diverse settings. He loves indie hip-hop, spoken word poetry, silent retreats, and sitcoms that center BIPOC. His wife Sabrina is an anti-racist educator and together they have three sons who amaze them daily. As the planting pastor of Access, he continues to serve by facilitating vision, developing leaders, and having a key role in our Sunday gatherings. Email Pastor Joel here.</image:caption>

Luke's family has recently hosted several Spanish speaking asylum seekers through foster care, and he worked for a non-profit that works to advance economic justice in Oregon. He brings a commitment to community health, environmental stewardship, hospitality, and as a drummer he also values good music.</image:caption>

<image:caption>With roots in Olympia, WA, James has lived his whole life in the Pacific Northwest, including over two decades in Portland. His background and professional life are in the trades, and he has participated in over a decade of community organizing and anti-racist work. Nowadays he sees his work with school bus drivers as a way to follow Christ in loving our city. Being in a cross-cultural marriage and raising multi-racial kids has made his home a true learning lab. His heart for justice, paired with his somewhat eclectic personality, means he is passionate about meeting needs and serving folks that might be overlooked.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Kids</image:title>
<image:caption>Kids are capable of worship that is both authentic and playful. That’s why: Our Kids’ Ministry brings adult leaders as co-learners of the Jesus way with the children. We are committed to emotional safety and prayerful attention to the individual needs of each child. We are physically safe: volunteers are background-checked and follow a safety plan so that no child is left alone with an adult. We are silly, and some of us are loud. God made us this way, so we own it! How it works: Please check your child into kids’ ministry using our contact tracing sheet at the entrance. Kids start in the sanctuary for songs and prayers with the whole community. Students in grades K-5th who would like to go to Kids’ Group are dismissed before the sermon. (Younger kids are welcome to participate as well—it’s up to the family.) Adults, please walk your children to the Kids’ Group so they are not unattended in between spaces. At the end of the gathering, please go check your child out of kids’ ministry. Parents of Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers: Older Preschoolers usually participate in our Kids’ Group if they are feeling ready. For other children, there is an area on the side of the sanctuary with comfortable seating and toys for quiet play so that parents can hear the sermon. Parents, we would love to hear from you, too. We are all learning and growing, and would love to hear how we can support you. Email Bonnie to introduce yourself and talk about kids’ ministry! And if you’re looking for more information about our small groups, you can find that here.</image:caption>
